Magnifi Group Demonstrates Industry’s First Interactive Educational Program (IEP) for Spine Fellows

Leading US Spine Centers Committed to the IEP’s Rollout in August 2008

Austin, Texas – October 24, 2007 – Magnifi Group, considered by many industry observers to be one of the most innovative technology companies within the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, announced here today at the North American Spine Society’s (NASS) annual meeting, its intent to organize and develop real-time Internet-based 3D interactive spine modules for use by spine fellows for the 2008 enrollment year.

The Interactive Educational Program (IEP), to be funded by medical device companies, will be part of a didactic educational process focused on surgeons entering a spinal fellowship and residents who anticipate admission to a spine fellowship in the near future.  All interactive animations will be cross-browser compatible and Apple and PC compliant. The interactive animations will also play within PowerPoint and on CDs.

Lead author of the IEP, Steven R. Garfin, M.D., Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), said that Spine Fellows will benefit greatly from such a didactic approach to learning. “While hands-on operative training during surgery is paramount for Spine Fellows, the IEP will serve as an additional and essential learning tool for the 2008 Spine Fellows.”  Dr. Garfin added that spine centers and medical schools will be well served by embracing such technological advances, particularly when it involves online 3D interactive surgical animation.

Andrew Wolpe, president of Magnifi Group, said Magnifi’s technology is a natural fit for institutions of higher learning. “Over the last three years our company has experienced significant success in growing our medical device client base; we’re simply now in a position to also offer our interactive software platform to leading spine centers and universities around the world as they look for new tools to teach the next generation of surgeons,” Wolpe said.
